Camp Collage | Session 1 and 2, July 2010
Camp Collage, a week-long interdisciplinary arts and science camp, is an annual collaboration with Rockford Art Museum, Rockford Dance Company and Discovery Center Museum. Themed lesson plans are created to engage campers in art, dance and science and teaching the connections between the three disciplines, with a final performance, demonstrations and art show at the end. Camp Collage is offered at no cost to 3rd-5th grade children in District 205 Title 1 and watch list schools. The function of this camp is to provide an opportunity to District 205 children who would otherwise not be able to attend summer camp a chance to return to school in the fall, telling their own stories of summer camp while exposing them to the museums in their community.
Special thanks to Bunny and John Schmidt whose generous donation has allowed Rockford Art Museum to increase the Camp Collage session from one to two week-long sessions for the next five years.
