Adopt a Painting This is not just a ripped painting…. This is history! Belle Emerson Keith was an accomplished artist and Rockford native. She was deeply passionate about her community and the development of fine art and was strong force in the creation of the Rockford Art Association (now RAM). Belle was also the founder of Keith Country Day School. Belle painted Chrysanthemums in the 1890s. It was owned by her mother for many years and was proudly displayed over the family fireplace mantle. In 1904 this oil painting was exhibited at the World's Fair in St. Louis. This historic piece was donated to RAM in 2008 with the hope that it would be restored to its original condition. Considered one of the most vibrant still-life paintings that Belle created, this historic work with gilded frame can be fully restored with your support. Please help preserve this painting. Not only will you be enhancing the value and importance of Chrysanthemums, you will also help safeguard the work for future generations to enjoy. To learn more about RAM restorations visit Unveiled: Restorations Revealed on view in Anderson Gallery through June 6, 2010. No pledge is too small Eevery dollar makes a difference. For donations of $250 or more, donor names will be recognized on RAM Permanent Collection wall labels. Rockford Art Museum is proud to announce the opportunity for members, generous individuals, and organizations to invest and directly participate in the process of restoration through its first Adopt–a–Painting program. By phone, call Nancy at 815.972.2870. Pledges by VISA and MasterCard are welcome. By mail, send to: Rockford Art Museum, 711 N. Main St., Rockford IL 61103.
