Art of the Portrait

This beginning portrait class introduces students to basic facial proportions. Students work from photos and live models to strengthen skills using pastels and pencil. All supplies included.

Basic Drawing

Work with local artist and art teacher Jeanne Ludeke to explore the formal elements of the drawing process. This class emphasizes drawing from observation with use of line, value, negative/positive space, and composition. Students should bring a sketchbook to class. All other supplies included.

Fabric Paper Books

Is this possible? You bet! By combining cotton fabric, bits of paper and watered down glue, you’ll make your own “fabric paper” and create a book that’s totally “you”! We’ll explore fun, fast collage methods and learn an easy way to put a book together. Bring a few favorite photos with you to class.

Learn the process of combining silk fabric and wool roving together to create beautiful scarves and other wearable accessories. This is a wet felting technique that bonds the fibers together completely by hand and in a relaxing way. Students will have the opportunity to make two scarves in this class.

ARTrageous Pen and Ink

Bet you never thought you could create a totally unique piece of art with a sopping wet piece of paper! Working with local artist Norm Knott, you will start by drawing a composition with ink onto a wet piece of paper and watch as the ink flows into an organic shape. Get more detailed by using watercolors, ink and collage to fill in your drawing and make it your own. The ambitious might even complete more than one piece!
