New Ideas Workshop: Connecting Literature & Visual Art

The New Ideas Workshop is an annual event presenting information, ideas and products which are practical for both the art specialist and classroom teacher. This year’s workshop features a language arts focus. Bring favorite examples of children’s literature you would like to incorporate into your curriculum. Learn how to engage students and try techniques children can use to enhance their understanding of the written material.

I Spy

This workshop presents materials designed to develop visual literacy skills including interpretation and understanding of works of art. Learn how vocabulary building, grounded story-telling, and communication skills are part of the experience of looking at and thinking about art.
