Docent Guided Gallery Tour

Participants tour current exhibitions with a docent. Tours last one hour and may include a gallery activity related to the exhibition.

A selection of our permanent collection is on view at all times. Please call or check here for a description of current and upcoming exhibitions.

Cost: $3 per participant

Self-Guided Gallery Tour

Teachers or group leaders may escort and lecture to groups of up to 25 children or adults in the museum galleries with the prior written permission of the Education Department.

For the protection of artwork, groups must provide one responsible adult chaperone for every five participants. Each chaperone must keep their group together and stay with their group at all times throughout the visit.

Self-guided groups must yield to docent-guided tours in the gallery. Self-guided groups may schedule visits during museum gallery hours.

Cost: $2 per participant

Terrific Tuesday

This field trip is a collaboration between Rockford Art Museum, Rockford Dance Company and Discovery Center Museum. Tours use art, movement and science to teach children about common themes.

This year's theme is“"Color and Light".” Students participating in this field trip will work with the Rockford Art Museum’s Artist-in-Residence. Terrific Tuesdays are designed for grade levels K-5.

Program can accomodate up to 75 children; groups of 76-100 children must purchase an additional activity. Please call for pricing info.

Artist-in-Residence

Receive a docent-guided tour of current exhibitions and enjoy an activity with RAM's Artist-in- Residence.

Length: 2 hours
Cost: $5 per participant

Support for the Artist in Residence program is provided by Women's Art Board.

 

HE&SHE Gallery Walk and Lecture

How Glass Influenced the Chicago Skyline

Hop on the bus and enjoy the view from the Chicago River on a chartered boat to see and hear how glass has changed this architecturally significant city. A tour of the stained glass exhibit at Navy Pier will follow. Space is limited, call 815-968-2787 to register.

How Glass Works and How to Work with Glass

Tour a working glass studio and hear firsthand about glass-blowing and the critical elements of working with glass. Ask artists questions about the medium. Space is limited, call 815-968-2787 to register.
