Established in 1948...
the Rockford Art Museum's Greenwich Village Art Fair is one of the oldest continuous art fairs in the area and combines juried artists with family-friendly children's activities, live music, food and an atmosphere that brings the community together in a vibrant and art-filled setting. More than 100 artists are juried into the show by an independent juror in categories of 3-D Functional, 3-D Non-functional, 2-D Medium, Jewelry, Photography, and Painting. Awards totaling $4,500, are presented to Best of Show, best of six media categories and honorable mention. Local business and individual art collectors sponsor more than $3,000 in purchase awards.
Fine art, gourmet food and wine are a perfect combination. In the old-world tradition of an open-air market, the Greenwich Village Art Fair also features a Gourmet Marketplace where vendors from throughout the Midwest sample and sell gourmet dips, sauces, mustards, olive oils, cheeses, fine wines, dried herbs, beef jerky, and specialty beers.
Art enthusiasts spend the day considering the purchase of fine art from throughout the United States while relaxing with a martini or beverage at the Kortman Gallery Point Bar, or savoring a grilled sandwich and a cold beer or soda at the Bud Light Village Pub. Art Bar features fine wine, gourmet coffee, and a popular Sunday morning Champagne and Omelet Brunch.
In a family-friendly setting of art and food, the Greenwich Village Art Fair also features Creations by Kids, where the young at heart of all ages can create a masterpiece of their own with easel painting, drawing, face painting, collage art, jewelry creations, and sculpture.
Rockford's Krypto Music Stage brings the local music scene to the Greenwich Village Art Fair with eclectic programming of acoustic music ranging from blues to jazz to a little rock. Past performers have included Brett Vogel, the Jodi Beach Trio, Miles Nielsen and jam band Pub Wisdom. |
