in the Anderson Galleries
While the upstairs galleries are closed durning January for the installation of our new lighting system, the lower level galleries are open and will feature several exhibitions highlighting the RAM permanent collection.
Hager Collection: Gee's Bend Quilts
This special exhibition features a dozen works on loan from the Hager family's personal collection of quilts made by self-taught African American female artists.
Chemistry of Color
Constantly changing, our perception of color is dictated the absorption and reflection of light. Works in this exhibition investigate how artists use color theory to manipulate the viewer's comprehension of a work of art. Some of the artists represented here are: Tony Bechara, Roger Brown, William Conger, Oli Sihvonen and Russ Warren.
Earth and Sky
From sharp contrasts paired with abstract landforms to panoramic vistas devoid of human activity, the photographs showcased in this exhibition describe the relationship of the earth and sky in striking, often poetic ways. Some of the notable photographers included in this show are: Ansel Adams, Paula Chamlee, Walker Evans, Joseph Jachna, Claire Trotter and Brett Weston.

FEB 3-MAY 6, 2012
While the upstairs galleries are closed during January for the installation of our new lighting system, we can look forward to the opening of an exhibition of works by Rockford artist, Roland Poska, in February.
