START is an art appreciation and activity program offered to senior citizens in retirement homes and long-term care facilities. The Museum's Education staff work with experienced art instructors to develop monthly lessons for each of the sites we serve.

Lessons engage participants in creative projects offering recreational and emotional outlets, physical and intellectual stimulation, socialization opportunities and a sense of accomplishment. Research shows that art activity programs
of this nature greatly benefit seniors.
