ARTIST-IN-RESIDENCE
Rockford Art Museum’s Artist-in-Residence (AIR) program is a yearlong residency for emerging artists in the Northern Illinois and Southern Wisconsin who are committed to engaging with the community while working toward a solo show. The AIR program focuses on helping artists advance their art career through collaboration and studio visits with museum staff and local artists.The Artist-in-Residence will be required to create a body of work for a solo show in the RAM Art Annex and to participate in museum education programs, which will include tours, workshops and off-site classes. The residency is awarded to one artist each year through a selection process, and includes access to studio space, use of equipment in the museum’s education spaces, and a stipend. All applications are due by May 1, 2020, artist will be notified no later than July 1, 2020. To apply please review the criteria and application requirements below:
APPLICANT CRITERIA
- Must be an emerging artist in Northern Illinois and Southern Wisconsin
- Must be 18 years or older with access to transportation
- Must complete the yearlong residency from August 2020 to July 2021
- Must participate in RAM education programs, including tours, workshops and off-site classes
RAM PROVIDES
- Studio space
- Access to equipment in museum educational studio spaces
- Stipend of $500
- Monthly studio visits with local artists, RAM staff, curators and educators
- Solo show in the RAM Art Annex educational gallery, December 2020–March 2021
- Potential for hosting additional workshops and classes
